Frequently Asked Questions

What Can I Do With Insi?

You can scan pages, posts, events, products, and custom content for accessibility issues from various locations in WordPress, including the pages or posts list, the quick edit area, or the content editing screen. Each scan provides an overall score and a detailed list of identified issues.

You can review each issue’s details and mark potential issues as resolved after manual verification. Insi also offers accurate contrast ratio assessments for text, even with background images, displays relevant website code for each issue, and provides detailed definitions and resolution instructions.

You can track your accessibility improvements by fixing detected issues and rescanning pages to see updated scores. From the pages and posts list, you can use filters to locate low-scoring pages or sort them by the last scan date.

What Can’t I Do With Insi?

Insi cannot detect accessibility issues that require manual testing, such as focus highlighting, screen reader compatibility, and keyboard-only navigation.

Insi follows WCAG 2.2 AA, a widely accepted standard for web accessibility compliance and legal risk mitigation.

We recommend aiming for a score of 75 or higher. Scores below 25 are considered critical and should be prioritized. However, rather than focusing on a specific score, demonstrating continuous improvement is more important for accessibility compliance.

Insi often reports lower initial scan scores because it detects a broader range of issues than many other tools and accurately calculates contrast ratios for all text elements.

The critical, minor, and potential issue counts reflect active issues. If issues have been manually resolved or preliminarily marked as resolved by Insi, they are not included in the scan summary totals.

There are several types of issues that automated scanning tools like Insi can’t test for. Insi cannot reliably test for:

  • Focus indicators
  • Logical tab order
  • Keyboard input functionality
  • Screen reader compatibility
  • Touch target size

Some issues may not be visible on the frontend due to temporarily hidden content or elements that appear dynamically, such as large menus, sliders, or randomized content.

Issues that require a manual check and some very rare issues can be manually marked as resolved because a human can review the problem and make an informed decision. Issues that are definitely detected can’t be marked resolved and must be fixed to improve your score.

Insi captures a moment-in-time snapshot of your page. In rare cases, moving or interactive elements may cause slight layout shifts, resulting in screenshot differences.

Insi identifies issues using an ID attribute in your site’s code. If this ID changes when a page is updated, the issue may be flagged as new. Additionally, some third-party services (e.g., ads, analytics) use dynamically generated IDs, causing accessibility issues to reappear in scans.

If possible, configure hidden content to load with the initial page rendering to allow scanning. For IFRAME content, use external tools like WAVE to evaluate accessibility. You can find the IFRAME’s URL in the item details code view.

You can view all sitewide resolved issues in the Dashboard under the respective tab. Resolved issues can also be restored as active from the dashboard if needed.

Your scan score may decrease due to new accessibility issues introduced by content updates or changes to sitewide code. For frequently updated or dynamic content pages, we recommend scanning at least once a week.
